Below are the necessary requirements for acquiring a pet sitting contract position with The Animals’ Kingdom Pet Sitting Service, Inc. We thank you for your interest in becoming a professional pet sitter and look forward to speaking with you.
1). You must be 21 years of age or older.
2). Availability between the hours of 6-9am and 6-9pm on a 7 day a week basis. 11-2 middday availability is a plus. This doesn’t mean you’ll be working all of these hours morning and night, but doing visits on a 12 hour split shift is common for this type of work. The ability to sit for your clients on a daily basis will be expected. This career can be started as a second job.
3). You must be available to work on major holidays. The pet sitting industry revolves around travel so holidays are the busiest times of year. This includes: Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years Eve & Day, Easter, Memorial & Labor Day, and Fourth of July.
4). Reliable transportation with good MPG. A vehicle is needed to travel to clients’ homes for sitting.
5). A high level of committment and compassion. Along with the independence of this type of work also comes a great deal responsibility. Being able to self manage and schedule is necessary. You will also be expected to help advertise your business. This position will command a great deal of commitment to the pets in your care. Since these are living animals, calling in sick or not showing up is unacceptable. If you will be unavailable for any reason you will need to arrange for a sitter to cover your sits. A compassion for the animals in your care is also neccessary. As well as, careful monitoring of the animal’s health and well-being.
6). You will be required to take the Mango Consultants training course and Pet CPR/First Aid Class. The cost of the Pet CPR/First aid class is $55.00. This will cover your personal trainer, testing, training supplies, training video, CPR/First aid class registration fees (books are $35 additional if you wish to purchase them. Used ones are available for use during your training) and assistance setting up your business structure.
7). A Smart Phone, cell phone with internet access.
8) Knowledge of Facebook.
9) Basic computer skills and internet access.
10) You will be required to provide a finger print clearence card.
11) The Animal’s Kingdom Pet Sitting Service, Inc. hires only on an independent contractor status.
